About the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
The GTA (Greater Toronto Area) is the made up of the city of Toronto and the regions of Peel, York, Durham, and Halton. Immediately to the West of the GTA is also Hamilton - which is a separate city, but whose job market and economy are tightly integrated economically with the GTA. The GTA is the most populous area in Canada - with over 4 million residents (5 million, if you include Hamilton) - and North America's 7th largest metropolitan area. Notable cities included in the GTA - in addition to Toronto, include Mississauga, Markham, Brampton, Vaughan, Oshawa, and Oakville.
