I don't know about you, but lately when I shop at any one of these new mega stores, I become overwhelmed by the amount of choices available to me for the same product - different brands, different functions, some more expensive, some do this, some do that...and of course, no one to be found that can help me sort out which of these products are best for my needs.

Such can be the case with the number of employment assistance programs and services once you start your job search... On the one hand, it's great to have so many resources available to you; on the other hand you could waste a lot of very valuable time and effort running from program to program without a master plan. The Employment Resource Centre (ERC) is the ideal place to start your job search. And ... IT'S FREE!!!

So if you are:

  • Unemployed and looking for work...
  • Not getting results in your job search ...
  • Looking for some career change information but don't know where to start...
  • Need to talk to someone about the Labour Market situation in York Region ...
  • Want to connect with others...
  • Need information and resources...
have a look!

We have assisted over 25,000 residents over the years with amazing results. Although many people feel that the job search process involves putting together a resume and sending it out to as many companies as possible, there is a much more efficient, effective and -- I guarantee -- more successful way of approaching this stressful process. It involves arming yourself with the best information out there and applying it in sequence. In order to sell yourself, you need to know what's for sale. The job search process if done correctly is all about knowing your product (you) and getting it out there to the right buyers. http://www.fairylakejobs.net/erc/calendar.pdf

Employment Resource Centres (there are 4 in York Region) are committed to empowering you in the development of an effective job search armed with self-marketing techniques. So don't ''hole up'' in your home office ... remember you NEVER know who is sitting beside you in a workshop. This is not a time for isolation. It's a time to connect with others. Come on over to the centre and let us help you!
